Amit Shah outlines bold strategies to catch fugitive criminals at CBI conference
Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the CBI conference on Thursday, stressing India’s commitment to bringing fugitive criminals to justice. He highlighted the need to ensure fugitives fear India’s justice system, asserting that national security, economic stability, and the rule of law depend on it. Shah outlined a strategy for extradition, emphasizing global coordination, advanced identification systems, and a stronger judicial credibility.
He also praised reforms like the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act, which has helped recover nearly $2 billion. Shah urged states to create units for fugitive repatriation and proposed a special CBI division for extradition requests. The two-day conference focused on international cooperation to combat financial crimes, terrorism, and cyber threats.
