ASEAN media week kicks off in China with big talks
Myanmar’s information deputy minister joined regional media leaders in southern China on Monday for talks on strengthening press collaboration across Southeast Asia.
U Ye Tint and MRTV Director-General U Ye Naing traveled to Nanning to participate in the 2025 ASEAN Partners Media Cooperation Week. China Media Group and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region authorities organized the gathering. During his address, U Ye Tint emphasized that this year’s conference theme of Openness, Culture and Shared Home reflects the need for nations in the region to foster connections through transparent dialogue and cultural exchange. He stressed that coordinated efforts between ASEAN states and regional allies such as China would bolster collective strength. The deputy minister called for participants to build bridges of communication that cross national boundaries.
Myanmar’s delegation held separate discussions with China Media Group representatives about expanding broadcast partnerships between Beijing and ASEAN capitals. Conference attendees also toured the Guangxi Anthropology Museum during their visit to the provincial capital.
