ASEAN police chiefs meet in Bangkok
Myanmar’s top law enforcement official transferred regional police network leadership to Thailand during meetings that concluded Thursday in Bangkok. Police Lt-Gen Win Zaw Moe led his country’s representatives through five days of sessions addressing cross-border criminal threats alongside counterparts from Southeast Asian nations and international partners, including the FBI, Interpol and law enforcement agencies from 11 observer countries.
Commission discussions concentrated on coordinating responses to narcotics smuggling, terrorism, weapons trafficking, human exploitation, wildlife offenses, financial fraud, digital crimes and maritime violations. Participants examined strengthening forensic collaboration, database systems and legal cooperation mechanisms during the 43rd ASEANAPOL Conference at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel.
Delegation leaders from all 10 member states endorsed a joint communique addressing regional security priorities. They adopted the Bangkok Joint Declaration targeting fraud operations connected to forced criminal activity as an attached document before Myanmar’s contingent departed Friday evening.
