Myanmar seeks foreign investment in farming
Myanmar has opened doors to foreign capital in agricultural industries as regional partners explore opportunities in the country’s farming sector. The Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations extended invitations to Vietnamese enterprises following discussions between Hanoi’s deputy trade minister and local chamber representatives about investment frameworks.
Authorities seek overseas funding across multiple domains, including energy production, petroleum extraction, mineral development and manufacturing operations. During the opening six months of the current fiscal year, 40 foreign-backed ventures commenced with combined capital reaching nearly $249 million. Vietnam joins Cambodia and Laos among neighboring nations expressing interest in Myanmar’s economic expansion, with agriculture-related enterprises forming the primary focus of recruitment efforts.
