Authorities to demolish Elenite hotel built on river after flooding disaster
Authorities have revealed the findings from inspections after the flooding at the Elenite resort. The state plans to demolish the “Negresco” hotel, which was built on the Drashtela River’s path. The hotel’s construction permit was issued in 2007 by the Nessebar Municipality, despite the river running under the building.
Authorities confirmed that construction on a river is illegal. They also discovered that there is no documentation for the collector where the river flows. Minister of Regional Development Ivan Ivanov stated that the current plan is to demolish the hotel and correct the river’s path.
The Ministry of Regional Development and the Ministry of Ecology are now working together to inspect other high-risk areas across the country for natural disasters.
