Bangladesh Bank extends loan rescheduling for jute exporters

Bangladesh Bank (BB) has extended the loan rescheduling facility for raw jute exporters until December 31, 2025, providing extra time to regularize outstanding loans.

A circular issued by the central bank on Monday allows exporters to reschedule their loans over the next two years with a 2% down payment on their outstanding amounts as of December 31, 2024.

This decision follows exporters’ struggles to meet the conditions of earlier loan rescheduling schemes aimed at addressing ongoing issues in the raw jute export sector.

The extension supports the recovery of the jute export sector, which has faced challenges due to falling global demand and payment delays.
