Bangladesh Navy chief hogs Dhaleshwari swim
Bangladesh’s naval forces sponsored the country’s 21st National Open Water Swimming Competition on Saturday, with 35 athletes diving into the Dhaleshwari River at Munshiganj. The Bangladesh Swimming Federation organized the annual race, which drew 23 male competitors and 12 female swimmers from throughout the nation.
Md. Faisal Ahmed from the Bangladesh Army claimed victory in the men’s division. Palash Chowdhury of the Bangladesh Navy finished as runner-up, while Nurul Islam, another Army representative, earned third place. The women’s competition saw Sonia Akter Tumpa from the Bangladesh Navy take top honors. Mukti Khatun of the Bangladesh Army captured second position, and Rupa Khatun from the Bangladesh Navy rounded out the podium in third.
Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, who serves as Navy chief and holds the role of Bangladesh Swimming Federation president, handed out awards to champions during ceremonies at Munshiganj Launch Ghat Terminal. Executive committee members from the swimming federation attended alongside Navy leadership, district administrators, and representatives from the District Sports Association.
