India’s football team to arrive early for Bangladesh clash
India’s national football squad will touch down in Dhaka on Nov. 15, arriving three days ahead of their AFC Asian Cup qualifier match against Bangladesh at Dhaka National Stadium on Nov. 18. Head coach Khalid Jamil adjusted the original travel plans, which called for the team to arrive just one day before kickoff, to give his players additional time for acclimatization and practice sessions.
The Blue Tigers share last place in their group standings with Bangladesh on equal points, but have yet to record a victory in the qualifying rounds. Their previous meeting ended scoreless when Bangladesh visited India this past March. Jamil told reporters his squad remains committed to earning a full three points during this away fixture. The All India Football Federation submitted a preliminary roster of approximately 50 players to both the Bangladesh Football Federation and the Indian High Commission for visa approval, with veteran forward Sunil Chhetri absent from the initial list.
An advance delegation inspected the stadium, practice facilities, lodging options, and security protocols. The visiting team will remain in Bangladesh from Nov. 15 through Nov. 19. Bangladesh will host Nepal for a friendly match on Nov. 13 before India’s arrival, with the Nepali squad expected on Nov. 10.
