Bangladesh Police women end Ansar’s baseball reign
The Bangladesh Police Women’s Baseball Team captured their first national championship on Saturday, ending the five-game winning streak of the Bangladesh Ansar Women’s Team with an 11-2 victory at Ria Gop Women’s Sports Complex in Dhanmondi. The Police squad’s pitchers and batters worked in harmony throughout the final match of the sixth National Women’s Baseball Championship 2025. Joypurhat Baseball Club earned third place earlier that day by defeating the Dhaka District Team 14-4.
Abdun Naser Khan, who heads the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology as secretary, praised the growing number of female athletes competing in Bangladesh during the awards presentation. He stressed government support for women pursuing athletic careers. Professor Dr. Engineer Ayub Nabi Khan joined Mohammad Aminul Ahesan and Riaz Ahmed as honored attendees who distributed trophies and medals to winning players and team officials.
