Bangladesh trio eye WPL glory, Delhi awaits

Three cricketers from Bangladesh are set to be part of the upcoming Women’s Premier League auction in Delhi. Pacer Marufa Akter, all-rounder Shorna Akter, and spinner Rabeya Khan were included on the shortlist following their World Cup performances. Each athlete has a base price of 41 lakh 33 thousand taka, with a potential league debut this season possible for those who are successfully bid upon.

Marufa Akter drew significant notice for a notable in-swing delivery in her team’s first World Cup match, which received commendation from Sri Lankan cricketing great Lasith Malinga. Her overall tournament results included six wickets from six matches. Shorna Akter scored 116 runs and also took six wickets, achieving one of the competition’s quickest half-centuries. Rabeya Khan contributed seven wickets and 87 runs across seven games.

The auction will see 227 registered players, a group that contains 83 overseas candidates, competing for just 23 available foreign slots.
