Sirajganj and Dinajpur chase fairy-tale finish
The National Football Championship will conclude with a final match between Sirajganj and Dinajpur districts, marking the first time either team has reached this stage. The decisive game is scheduled for the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Shipahi Mustofa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur.
Dinajpur advanced by defeating Chattogram 3-2 in their semifinal, while Sirajganj earned its place with a 2-0 victory over Jashore. Officials from the Bangladesh Football Federation, including Tournament Committee Chairman and BFF Vice President Wahid Uddin Chowdhury Happy, attended a pre-final press conference with the teams.
Dinajpur coach Shamim Ahmed stated that his strategy involved selecting players from both urban and rural areas, expressing optimism about winning. Sirajganj coach Mahbub Alam conveyed a strong determination to secure the trophy after his district’s return to the final after 39 years. Captain Milon mentioned that many of his junior players found the home-and-away format challenging, but noted that significant fan support was expected for the final.
