Bangladesh women set for Thailand friendlies

Bangladesh women’s national football team will face Thailand in two friendly matches after a break of more than three months from international competition. The first game takes place on Friday at Bangkok Thonburi University Football Training Centre with the second scheduled for Oct. 27. Both contests serve as preparation for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup final round next year.

Thailand ranks 57th in the FIFA Women’s World Rankings, while Bangladesh ranks 104th. Bangladesh climbed 24 positions in recent standings and defeated Myanmar 2-1 in Asian Cup qualifiers. Thailand lost its last three matches to the same opponent by identical scores. Head coach Peter Butler said winning matters less than his players’ competitive spirit.
