Border Guard Bangladesh confiscated smuggled merchandise valued at 16.1 million taka and arrested one individual through operations conducted on Thursday near the Sylhet frontier. Forces from the 48th Battalion executed raids across Protapur, Sripur, Tamabil, Bichnakandi, Kalairag, and Banglabazar border zones. Authorities recovered Indian sarees, spices, livestock, cosmetics, produce, textiles, cigarettes, fruits, and alcohol along with a pickup truck used for illegal transport.

Lieutenant Colonel Md Nazmul Haque leads the battalion and stated security measures will persist to combat smuggling and narcotics trafficking at border crossings. Officials plan to transfer all seized materials to the relevant agencies through proper channels. The operations reflect ongoing efforts to prevent unauthorized goods from entering Bangladesh through its northeastern boundaries with India.
