Navy reigns as 20 records fall in nationals

Bangladesh Navy captured 35 gold medals at the 34th National Swimming Championship, which ended on Thursday at the Syed Nazrul Islam Swimming Complex. Competitors set 20 national records over four days of competition, with five marks set on the final day. Kajol Mia broke two records for Navy by swimming the 400-meter individual medley in 4:39.86 and the 400-meter freestyle in 4:06.44. Samiul Islam Rafi earned best male swimmer honors with six golds and six national records, while Romana Akter of the Army took best female swimmer honors with five golds and two records.

Jui Akter from Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan clocked 5:37.01 in the 400-meter individual medley to set a new standard. The Navy placed second with 23 silver medals and 11 bronze medals, and the Army finished runner-up overall with 10 gold medals. Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hasan presented awards alongside federation officials at the ceremony.
