Barzani meets Sufi leader on unity drive
Kurdistan’s prime minister met with a prominent Sufi leader on Wednesday to address regional stability and minority protections. Masrour Barzani hosted Sheikh Nahro Sheikh Mohammed Kasnazani in Erbil to review political conditions across Iraq’s autonomous north.
Barzani outlined government measures to defend Kurdish constitutional guarantees while maintaining public order and religious freedoms. The religious figure leads the Aliyya Qadri Kasnazani order with followers across multiple nations.
Both men agreed that spiritual authorities help build social unity through ethical guidance. Sheikh Kasnazani backed programs that support Kurdish rights and economic progress.
Kurdistan maintains peaceful relations among Muslims, Christians, Yazidis, and other faith communities. This model of coexistence strengthens the region’s reputation for pluralism amid broader sectarian tensions across the Middle East.
