BCCI mix-up sparks confusion over Sarfaraz and Musheer Khan in Ranji Trophy

The BCCI made a mistake on the opening day of the Ranji Trophy 2025/26 season, confusing Mumbai cricketers Sarfaraz Khan and Musheer Khan. During Mumbai’s match against Jammu and Kashmir in Srinagar, the official scorecard mistakenly listed Sarfaraz as the opening batter, claiming he was dismissed for a duck by Auqib Nabi. This caused confusion since Sarfaraz is a middle-order batter, not an opener.

It was later clarified that Musheer, Sarfaraz’s younger brother, had opened the batting and was dismissed for a duck. The BCCI corrected the error, but the confusion lingered. Sarfaraz eventually came in to bat at No. 5, scoring 42 runs off 48 balls before being run out.

Mumbai reached 302/5 with Siddhesh Lad and Shams Mulani still at the crease. The 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season, featuring 38 teams, is underway, with Mumbai aiming to add to their 42 titles.
