Bikov says GERB ready to submit state budget draft
GERB-SDF will submit its state budget draft to parliament soon without altering the cabinet, lawmaker Toma Bikov told NOVA television on Sunday. The party plans to complete a full governing term with its three coalition partners while MRF-New Beginning provides external support without joining the administration.
Bikov said GERB-SDF has served as a vehicle for other parties’ agendas since the 2023 merger, prompting Borisov’s recent criticism of implementing Peevski’s directives. As the leading parliamentary force, GERB should advance most policy priorities, the legislator added.
The rotation proposal assigns each parliamentary group a one-year speaker term, with Kiselova potentially returning for the fourth year. Bikov said this arrangement does not signal early elections or attempts at restructuring, since the speaker position cannot fundamentally alter government operations.
American sanctions against Lukoil complicate matters, but Bulgaria stands prepared to respond and may request assistance if needed, Bikov stated. The National Security Agency must verify whether shell companies acquire Lukoil assets while the government addresses potential fuel price increases and payment disruptions at stations.
