BJP fields 71 candidates for Bihar vote with castes, women and fresh faces
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) revealed its first slate of 71 candidates for the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections on Tuesday, focusing on a diverse mix of castes and communities.
The list aims to include people from various social groups, such as Dalits, OBCs, EBCs, SC/STs, and women. More than half of the candidates are from these groups.
It features 20 OBC candidates, 11 EBCs, 6 SC/STs, and 8 women. Upper castes are also represented, with figures from Bhumihar, Brahmin, Rajput, and Kayastha backgrounds.
New faces are highlighted in key areas like Kumhrar and Patna Sahib. Leaders say the list balances social justice with political strategy.
