Indian shooters gear up for trap showdown at ISSF World Championship in Athens

The ISSF World Championship Shotgun 2025 in Athens, Greece, shifts to the trap competition after the skeet events. Starting Wednesday, six Indian shooters—Neeru Dhanda, Aashima Ahlawat, and Kirti Gupta for women, and Zoravar Singh Sandhu, Vivaan Kapoor, and Bhowneesh Mendiratta for men—will compete at the Malakasa Shooting Range in the qualification round.

The women’s event features top contenders like World Champion Lin Yi-Chun and World No.1 Lada Denisova. Dhanda, ranked No.8, leads India’s women’s team, joined by Ahlawat and Gupta.

In the men’s competition, Zoravar Singh Sandhu, ranked No.12, heads the Indian team, with Kapoor and Mendiratta. The event will feature a strong field, including World Champion Giovanni Cernogoraz and Olympic medalists Nathan Hales and Jean Pierre Brol.

The qualification round will run through October 17, with the top six shooters in each category advancing to the finals for World Championship medals. The women’s final is at 5:30 PM IST, followed by the men’s at 7:00 PM IST.
