Brahmanbaria man turns unused land into ginger farm using sack method

In Brahmanbaria, a young man from Damchail village, Ashraful Islam, has turned unused land into a profitable venture by growing ginger in sacks. He learned the method through YouTube videos and was motivated to try it on a small plot of land.

With guidance from the local Agriculture Office, Ashraful started with 30 sacks and is expecting a good harvest soon. He plans to expand his ginger cultivation in the future.

Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer Ayan Das said the technique is gaining traction for its ability to reduce pests and disease compared to traditional methods. Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Shahana Begum added that this method uses fewer resources, making it ideal for small spaces like rooftops or balconies. The Agriculture Office is promoting sack cultivation, aiming for 6,000 sacks this year.
