Bulgaria faces eurozone budget challenge, Rusinova warns of risks

Zornitsa Rusinova, Chairperson of the Economic and Social Council of Bulgaria, discussed the country’s budget process. She said the budget must be submitted to the National Assembly by October 31, marking the first budget in euros. She emphasized the importance of not questioning Bulgaria’s entry into the eurozone, even though some steps remain.

Rusinova acknowledged past delays in budget adoption but hoped it wouldn’t happen again. She stressed the need for financial discipline and responsibility in budget expenditures. She also expressed concern about increasing social spending and the need to monitor its sources and destinations.
