Bulgaria plans new cybersecurity system
Bulgaria’s e-Government Ministry is developing a centralized national cybersecurity infrastructure designed to protect data sovereignty and address emerging digital threats. Minister Valentin Mundrov, meeting with representatives from the Bulgarian Employers’ Association for Innovative Technologies, described the initiative as positioning the country among regional leaders in digital defense capabilities while ensuring transparent procurement processes.
Mundrov stated his administration has eliminated classified contracting procedures that lasted over a decade, replacing them with open competitions accessible to diverse companies under public procurement regulations. Previous ministerial leadership had established restrictive technical requirements that limited vendor participation, he noted.
The minister emphasized that collaboration between the government and the private sector remains essential for advancing digital transformation while protecting taxpayer resources through accountable spending practices. Industry representatives expressed willingness to partner with authorities and praised recent improvements in the state’s information services capacity.
