Chhatra Dal releases Chittagong VC after confinement
Professor Md. Kamal Uddin, the Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the University of Chittagong, was released after being confined for two and a half hours during the Chittagong University Central Students’ Union (CUCSU) elections. He was freed at 3:15 am on 16 October.
Around 12:50 am, Professor Kamal Uddin was confined by Chhatra Dal members at Suhrawardy Hall Union over allegations of vote rigging in the Vice-President (VP) election. The student leaders demanded a recount for the contested VP post. According to Chhatra Dal leaders, the Vice-Chancellor assured them that the results would be reviewed before he was released. Jalal Uddin Siddique, a former leader of Chhatra Dal, confirmed that the Vice-Chancellor promised to reconsider the results.
