China-CEE think tank summit held in Zagreb

The 11th China-Central and Eastern European Countries High-Level Think Tank Symposium took place in Zagreb on 21 October 2025. Co-hosted by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the event drew over 100 participants from 18 countries to discuss cooperation under the theme “The World at a Crossroads: China-CEEC Cooperation.”

Chinese and European officials and scholars have highlighted achievements since the China-CEEC mechanism began in 2012, citing infrastructure projects such as Croatia’s Pelješac Bridge and the growing trade and cultural ties. Speakers emphasized the need for deeper collaboration in the green and digital sectors, as well as multilateralism and global governance. They also called for stronger engagement from think tanks to support long-term partnerships and address shared challenges, such as climate change and artificial intelligence. The symposium was organized by the Institute of European Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Chinese Embassy in Croatia, and the Zagreb School of Economics and Management.
