Chinoda nominated for Women in Conservation award

Advocate Ever Vimbayi Chinoda, a conservationist and lawyer, has been nominated for the Animal Action Awards in the Women in Conservation category for her work in wildlife law, rescue, and advocacy in Zimbabwe and beyond. The ceremony will take place today at the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) Headquarters in London.

Chinoda is the founder and director of Speak Out For Animals, an organization she established in 2017. She has worked to strengthen Zimbabwe’s justice system in addressing wildlife crimes, training 139 prosecutors, 80 investigators, and 20 magistrates. Her efforts also include introducing wildlife law at the Herbert Chitepo Law School and advocating for specialized wildlife courts.

Chinoda’s work led to a key policy change, securing stronger protection for the painted dog, showing the impact of advocacy combined with science.
