Crude bombs target Rafia home

Unidentified attackers threw crude bombs and attempted arson at the Mymensingh residence of DUCSU Executive Committee Member Umma Uswatun Rafia, with several occupants inside during the predawn assault. Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shibirul Islam confirmed a case under the Explosive Substances Act following a complaint from Rafia’s brother, Khondoker Zulkernain Raad, who reported the family remains frightened despite escaping major harm.

The incident follows Rafia’s confrontation with police during clashes involving anti-Awami League protesters near the Dhanmondi 32 location. The DUCSU member criticized law enforcement tactics as disproportionate while defending demonstrators’ grievances against the historic property, questioning why state resources should shield the building from public anger, although she avoided joining demolition efforts.
