EC to meet govt officials for fair election prep

Bangladesh’s Election Commission will meet with senior government officials on Thursday, October 30, to prepare for the February 2026 parliamentary vote. Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin will lead discussions with 31 top bureaucrats at the commission headquarters at 3 p.m.

Officials from the Cabinet Division, the Home Ministry, the Public Administration Ministry, and Bangladesh Bank will attend, alongside leaders from Bangladesh Television, the Civil Aviation Authority, and the prison system. The commission invited secretaries from finance, education, health, and transportation departments to discuss election logistics.

The panel previously met with law enforcement representatives on October 20 and journalists on October 6. The commission began stakeholder consultations in late September with civil society groups and teachers.

Election authorities plan additional meetings with political parties before the vote scheduled for early February 2026.
