EC to release final polling station list Monday

Bangladesh will release its finalized polling station list on Monday after completing amendments to the draft version, Election Commission Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said on Sunday. The announcement follows a meeting of the Commonwealth pre-election assessment team with commission officials at Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka.

Ahmed told reporters that political party registration will conclude this week after reviewing field information. Police detained one person following a Saturday night explosion near the commission building, and authorities may pursue legal action.

Commonwealth Electoral Support Section head Linford Andrews said his delegation aims to determine if stakeholders support international election observers for the February vote. The team discussed expatriate voting, technology misuse and security concerns with Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin.

Ahmed acknowledged some adjustments to the roadmap timeline but dismissed concerns about implementation progress. He said certain tasks remain pending while others have been completed.
