Energy minister explores tech exchange in China
Myanmar’s Energy Minister U Ko Ko Lwin toured Chinese manufacturing plants on Saturday to explore partnerships for equipment production as part of bilateral energy discussions. The minister proposed establishing similar factories in Myanmar with technology transfers and requested practical training opportunities for Myanmar workers at Chinese facilities.
Chinese representatives showcased assembly lines for methanol and natural gas engines plus compatible generators designed for vehicles, ships, and power stations. U Ko Ko Lwin identified aging diesel and natural gas systems in Myanmar’s electricity network that require major overhauls due to reduced efficiency and increased fuel leakage.
The delegation visited state enterprises holding manufacturing patents to establish direct cooperation agreements. Myanmar seeks access to replacement components and technical expertise to repair electrical generation equipment that has exceeded its optimal service life.
