Fake RAB gang hijacks chicken truck
Police in Rajbari received a formal complaint on Thursday after armed men impersonating Rapid Action Battalion officers seized a chicken-loaded pickup truck on Tuesday. The owner, Hasanuzzaman, named 13 to 14 unknown suspects in his filing with Pangsha Model Police Station. Officers began their inquiry immediately after the truck disappeared near Maishala Bus Stand on the Rajbari-Kushtia highway. Authorities have not found the vehicle or made arrests.
The stolen pickup, carrying 819 chickens weighing about 2,000 kilograms from Thakurgaon to Faridpur, was stopped by attackers early on Tuesday. Men wearing RAB uniforms emerged from a white microbus and claimed drugs were hidden in the truck. They restrained the driver and two helpers with ropes and blindfolds before forcing them into the microbus. The victims endured electric shocks before being released near Kushtia Sadar Police Station.
Hasanuzzaman bought the pickup for 16.65 million taka shortly before the theft. RAB-10 Faridpur officials confirmed no legitimate units operated in that area at the time. Commander Md Tariqul Islam said teams are searching for those responsible.
