Fakhrul slams PR demands, vows no delay to 2026 election

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the BNP Secretary General, accused some people of raising issues like the proportional representation (PR) system to cause trouble and delay the next election. He said there would be no delay, and the election would happen in February 2026. Fakhrul explained that these demands were distractions from the main goal of a fair election. He urged political parties to stop making non-election demands and work with the interim government for a smooth election process.

Fakhrul also spoke about the past, criticizing the Awami League for repression and violence against opposition leaders. He emphasized the BNP’s long struggle for people’s right to vote, remembering the challenges they faced. He promised security for all communities and employment for the youth.
