Fandakova slams Sofia’s garbage crisis as mismanaged disaster
Yordanka Fandakova, a GERB-SDS MP and former Sofia mayor, spoke about the ongoing garbage crisis, calling it a serious issue affecting many households. She thanked volunteers and the Minister of Justice for their help in addressing the situation.
Fandakova explained that as mayor, her primary role was to prevent crises, particularly in areas like garbage collection, transportation, and utilities. She emphasized that garbage collection is the mayor’s responsibility by law.
She criticized delays in contractor selection, noting that the process was announced too late and should have been planned earlier. Fandakova urged for legal, well-prepared procedures and a clear backup plan to avoid such crises.
