Father of Siyana calls for justice and an end to court corruption

Nikolay Popov, whose 12-year-old daughter Siyana died in a traffic collision, issued a social media appeal urging Bulgarians to challenge judicial corruption and accountability failures. The grieving parent criticized lenient treatment of offenders while accusing courts of prioritizing criminal interests over citizen protection, specifically targeting Supreme Court of Cassation President Galina Zakharova for institutional indifference.

Popov launched a petition demanding Zakharova’s resignation while drawing parallels between his daughter’s death and an incident involving physician Nenad Tsonevski, who allegedly struck an animal and abandoned it. The father argued that the absence of oversight allows perpetrators who harm children and vulnerable populations to escape meaningful consequences, characterizing the system as fundamentally broken and lacking basic fairness standards.
