Feast served to minister before deity violates temple rituals

Allegations of ritual violations have emerged regarding the Aranmula Ashtami Rohini Vallamkali feast, causing a stir for the Travancore Devasom Board. It was revealed that the feast was served to Devaswom Minister V.N. Vasavan before being offered to the deity, breaking long-standing temple customs.

Temple priest Parameswaran Vasudevan Bhattathirippad confirmed the violation in a letter to the Board, stating that the feast held on September 14 was improperly conducted. As the deity had not accepted the previous offering, corrective measures are now being called for.

The directive mandates key temple officials to make a public apology and offer a monetary gift to the deity. It also stresses that future feasts must strictly follow traditional practices to avoid further lapses. The Palliyod Seva Sangham, which initially denied any wrongdoing, has now agreed to comply.
