Former student stabs 3 staff members at Torrance education center, suspect arrested

A former student violently attacked staff members at the Switzer Learning Center near Los Angeles on Monday morning, stabbing three and attempting to attack a fourth. The incident unfolded around 8:15 a.m., when the suspect started assaulting staff members before fleeing the scene. Two victims were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, while the third was treated on-site.

Police later apprehended the suspect, who claimed to have planted pipe bombs nearby, triggering a bomb squad response. Authorities found and neutralized two incendiary devices but confirmed there was no ongoing threat. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
