French Ambassador meets Jamaat-e-Islami leader to discuss ties

France’s newly appointed ambassador to Bangladesh, Jean-Marc Seré-Charlet, met with Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman at the party leader’s Bashundhara office in Dhaka. Political Counsellor Christian Beck from the French Embassy accompanied the diplomat, while Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar and other senior Jamaat officials attended.

Discussions covered electoral preparations, democratic institution building, human rights concerns, and expanding trade partnerships between the two nations. Rahman commended France’s diplomatic history with Bangladesh and requested continued development assistance. Both delegations expressed confidence that bilateral relations would strengthen further.
