Germany women tackle Kabaddi with fresh spirit

Despite losing all their group stage matches, the Germany women’s national kabaddi team views its first World Cup appearance as a valuable learning opportunity. The squad, which arrived in Mirpur with only nine players instead of the standard fourteen, was formed less than a year ago.

Team member Emma Attle explained that the players are still learning the sport’s fundamentals, including its rules. She stated their primary goal was to enjoy the tournament experience. Kabaddi remains an amateur activity in Germany, with a small community of approximately forty female players training in just two cities.

Attle expressed hope that the sport would eventually gain nationwide popularity, potentially leading to a professional league in Germany. The team was reportedly motivated by its warm reception in Bangladesh and aims to promote kabaddi upon its return.
