Nortje returns as South Africa set for India tour

South African fast bowler Anrich Nortje has been included in the national Twenty20 International squad for its upcoming five-match series against India. This selection marks his return to the team since the 2024 T20 World Cup final, following a successful recovery from a series of injuries. His inclusion helps offset the loss of fellow pace bowler Kagiso Rabada, who is sidelined for four weeks with a rib injury.

Team coach Shukri Conrad welcomed Nortje’s return, noting his proven capabilities. Conrad also expressed confidence in the squad’s depth, emphasizing the importance of having multiple players ready to perform. The selectors also announced a separate one-day international squad for a preceding three-match series. Both squads feature experienced wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock, alongside many players from the recent tour of Pakistan.
