Gold hits record price of Tk2.16 lakh per bhori in Bangladesh
Gold prices have hit an all-time high in Bangladesh, crossing Tk2.16 lakh per bhori (11.664 grams). Jewellers raised the price by Tk2,613, now setting it at Tk2,16,332 per bhori after pure gold prices surged in the local market.
The Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made this move after a meeting on Tuesday. With this increase, 22-carat gold will cost Tk18,547 per gram, 21-carat Tk17,704, and 18-carat Tk15,175. Traditional gold is priced at Tk12,633 per gram. The new prices start Wednesday.
Silver prices stay the same, with 22-carat silver at Tk532 per gram. Buyers will also face a 5% VAT and a minimum 6% making charge.
