Govt urges unity between local authorities and chiefs for Vision 2030 development

The government has urged local authorities to work more closely with traditional leaders to boost community development and achieve Vision 2030. At a meeting in Masvingo, officials stressed that unity in local governance is essential for growth and the success of the devolution program.

Chief Mugabe praised the government’s development efforts, while Councillor Christine Charumbira highlighted the importance of collaboration between councillors and traditional leaders for improving community livelihoods. Minister Daniel Garwe emphasized that councillors and chiefs must work together as part of the “third tier” of governance to meet national development goals.

Masvingo Minister Ezra Chadzamira and Chiefs’ Council President Chief Mtshane Khumalo also supported the idea, stressing the importance of community participation and cultural alignment in development. This meeting is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to align development structures at the grassroots level.
