Gunmen seize government Toyota from Austin Nyathi in Gwanda
Gwanda’s Senondo suburb shook with panic when armed robbers struck at the home of Austin Nyathi, the provincial information officer, late on Wednesday. Two masked men followed Nyathi as he arrived and forced him at gunpoint to hand over the keys to a government Toyota Hilux. One robber fired a shot into the air while the other demanded the keys, sending Nyathi scrambling for cover as neighbors listened in terror.
The thieves sped off and vanished before police could arrive. As of Friday, the vehicle was still missing, and police have yet to make arrests. Officers are urging anyone with leads to come forward. The attack is part of a rising wave of armed robberies targeting both private citizens and state property.
