Ibrahim Zadran falls short as Nabi powers Afghanistan to 293-9

Afghanistan’s opener Ibrahim Zadran narrowly missed out on a century again, while Mohammad Nabi’s explosive finish helped Afghanistan reach 293/9 in the third ODI against Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.

After being asked to bat first, Afghanistan started strong with openers Ibrahim and Rahmanullah Gurbaz putting up 99 runs in 16 overs. Gurbaz scored 42 before being dismissed by Tanvir Islam. Ibrahim then partnered with Sediqullah Atal for 74 more runs, but Bangladesh fought back in the middle overs. Part-timer Saif Hasan triggered a mini-collapse, dismissing Atal and captain Hashmatullah Shahidi.

Ibrahim, set on 95, was run out, falling just short of a century for the second match in a row. Despite this, Nabi’s blistering 62 off 37 balls, including five sixes, powered Afghanistan to a competitive total.
