ICT demands death penalty for Sheikh Hasina over July Uprising
The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has called for compensating the victims of the July Uprising by seizing the illegal properties of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her aides. Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam has requested the death penalty for Hasina, calling her the mastermind behind the crimes.
During the fifth consecutive day of arguments, Tajul accused Hasina of being responsible for the deaths of over 1,400 people, asserting she should face the maximum punishment to ensure justice. He also requested capital punishment for former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, who was part of the group responsible for suppressing the uprising.
Former police chief Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has already pleaded guilty and is now an approver in the case.
