Israeli airstrikes kill one, wound seven in southern Lebanon

On Thursday, Lebanon’s Ministry of Health reported that Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon killed one person and wounded seven others. The attacks took place in the towns of Shmistar, Bnaafoul, and Ansar. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the strikes, accusing Israel of targeting civilian infrastructure and violating the ceasefire agreement reached in November last year.

Israel’s military stated the airstrikes targeted Hezbollah infrastructure and facilities linked to the Green Without Borders group, which it claims is a front for Hezbollah. Despite the ceasefire, Israeli airstrikes have continued, raising fears of renewed conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

The ceasefire was intended to end cross-border violence after intense hostilities in mid-2024, but ongoing strikes and Hezbollah’s activities along the border have kept the situation unstable.
