Ivory Coast, Senegal, South Africa complete World Cup qualification
Ivory Coast, Senegal, and South Africa secured their spots in next year’s World Cup after completing the group stages of African qualification. Ivory Coast defeated Kenya 3-0 in Abidjan to top Group F, while Senegal beat Mauritania 4-0 in Dakar, finishing first in Group B. South Africa finished first in Group C despite a three-point penalty, securing their first World Cup appearance since 2010.
Morocco and Tunisia qualified last month, and Egypt and Algeria completed their spots last week. Ghana and Cape Verde also booked their places with home wins.
The four best runners-up—Cameroon, DR Congo, Gabon, and Nigeria—will now face off in a playoff next month for a spot in the inter-continental playoffs in March, which will determine the last two World Cup berths.
