Kachin harvest feast, cultural event set for Myitkyina

Kachin State will host a two-day harvest festival and cultural showcase on Friday and Saturday at the Majwe Hall in Myitkyina, bringing together indigenous communities and other ethnic groups to celebrate the rice harvest season. Officials from the Kachin State Government Office announced that participants will include Kachin people from across the region alongside Bamar, Kayin, Rakhine and Shan residents.

The celebration aligns with October and November customs when communities traditionally mark the gathering of crops through ceremonial feasts. Performers representing six Kachin tribes, five Shan groups and three additional ethnic populations will present songs and dances at Myitkyina University during the festivities.

Organizers designed the event to strengthen bonds among diverse populations living in Kachin State while promoting social harmony through shared cultural experiences.
