Kvarner region sees record tourist surge in October
Croatia’s Kvarner region reported substantial gains during October with 556,000 overnight stays and 150,000 arrivals, marking increases of 5 percent and 2 percent, respectively, over the previous year. Five-star hotels led the accommodation sector with 14 percent more arrivals and 9 percent additional overnight stays, while campsites achieved double-digit growth in both metrics. The island of Rab posted a particularly strong performance with 56 percent more arrivals.
Tourism officials credited specialized offerings, including culinary experiences, active recreation, and wellness programs, for attracting visitors outside peak summer months. Germany remained the dominant source market despite a slight 2 percent decline, while Hungarian overnight stays surged 31 percent and Slovenian visits climbed 19 percent during October.
Representatives from the Kvarner Tourist Board signed agreements at the World Travel Market in London, anticipating 45 percent growth in British arrivals over four years through partnerships with Jet2.com and Jet2holidays. British travelers typically spend 232 euros daily in Croatia compared to the 140-euro average for other international visitors.
