KDP candidate praises Soran development, vows to defend Kurdish rights

A Kurdistan Democratic Party parliamentary candidate credited the regional government’s current cabinet with advancing public services across the Soran district ahead of national voting next month. Dlawar Jawhar told reporters on Sunday that Prime Minister Masrour Barzani directs programs without favoritism as development projects transform the independent administration. The physician said effective representation requires Arabic fluency and policy knowledge, following past legislative setbacks caused by inexperienced Kurdish lawmakers.

Iraq holds Council of Representatives elections on Nov. 11 under a single-vote system adopted after the 2019 protests ended proportional representation. Voters select 329 members who then choose the president and confirm the prime minister across 83 constituencies. More than 21 million citizens can participate as 7,768 candidates compete through parties and independent slates.
