King Salman reconstitutes Saudi Supreme Judicial Council
Saudi Arabia’s King Salman reorganized the Supreme Judicial Council and reappointed Justice Minister Walid Al-Samaani as acting chairman. The royal decree names the Supreme Court chief justice, attorney general, deputy justice minister, and several judges as council members.
Al-Samaani thanked the king and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their confidence in his leadership. He said government backing has strengthened the justice system’s performance and effectiveness.
The king selected 12 judges and legal scholars to serve four-year terms under different provisions of the Judicial Law. Sheikh Abdullatif Al-Sabil, Sheikh Majid Al-Rujai’i, Sheikh Abdul Salam Al-Ghamdi and Sheikh Saleh Al-Omari joined the council alongside eight other appointees.
The new members expressed gratitude for the appointment and pledged to serve the nation with dedication. They called the selection both an honor and a responsibility that inspires greater commitment to their judicial duties.
