KLIA aerotrain service resumes after temporary disruption
Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has confirmed that the aerotrain service at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 is back to normal after a temporary disruption yesterday evening at 8:30 pm. The airport quickly activated contingency measures, deploying shuttle buses to ensure passengers could still transfer between the Main Terminal and Satellite Building. No passengers missed their flights during this period.
By 9:27 pm, one aerotrain was restored to service, and after further testing, both trains resumed normal operations. The incident occurred during the defect liability period of the newly commissioned aerotrain system. MAHB is investigating the cause of the disruption with the project contractors and has introduced additional safety measures, including thermographic scanning. An independent assessor will review the power supply design and installation to ensure quality and safety. MAHB remains committed to maintaining the aerotrain system’s reliability and safety.
